Job DescriptionThe Project Manager schedules and coordinates all design and construction processes, including the selection, hiring, and oversight of specialty trade contractors.  Divides all required construction site activities into logical steps, estimating and budgeting the time required to meet established deadlines.•    Plan, coordinate and supervise on-site activities of heavy infrastructure construction.•    Manage complete project process including project schedules and budgets.•    Coordinate work of subcontractors.•    Work closely with field superintendents and design teams to deliver top quality projects for the client. •    Resolve complex contractual issues and claims. •    Estimation and bidding.•    Schedule the project in logical steps and budget time required to meet deadlines.•    Determine labor requirements and dispatch workers to construction sites.•    Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with safety codes, and other regulations.•    Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff, workers, and clients, representing the owner or developer.•    Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors.•    Obtain all necessary permits and licenses.•    Direct and supervise workers.•    Study job specifications to determine appropriate construction methods.•    Select, contract, and oversee workers who complete specific pieces of the project.•    Requisition supplies and materials to complete construction projects.•    Prepare and submit budget estimates and progress and cost tracking reports.•    Develop and implement quality control programs.•    Take actions to deal with the results of delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction site.•    Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.•    Investigate damage, accidents, or delays at construction sites, to ensure that proper procedures are being carried out. Job Qualifications•    Flexible and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. •    Decisive with the ability to work well under pressure, particularly when faced with unexpected events or delays. •    Ability to manage several major activities at once, while analyzing and resolving specific problems.•    Understanding of engineering, architectural, and other construction drawings.•    Ability to establish a good working relationship with many different people, including owners, other managers, designers, supervisors, and craft workers. Job Requirements•    Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.•    10+ years experience in heavy civil infrastructure construction supervision and management.•    Familiarity with Wisconsin Department of Transportation policies and procedures for construction. •    Familiarity with computers and software programs for job costing, online collaboration, scheduling, and estimating also is important.•    Experience with self-performed work.•    Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.•    Thorough knowledge of estimating techniques and accounting principles.•    Excellent oral and written communication skills.
