Scope of Project:
The work under this contract consisted of removing the existing structure, construction of Structure B-40-0911, 8¼-Inch HMA pavement, concrete curb and gutter, grading, base aggregate, sidewalk, pavement marking, traffic control, and all incidental
items necessary to complete the work as shown on the plans and included in the proposal and contract.


The performed work consisted of demolition and removal of existing structure.   New bridge construction followed involving, temporary soil shoring system, an enhanced temporary shoring wall for water containment, steel reinforcement, sub/superstructure concrete masonry, the setting of pre-cast units for the new structure, storm sewer, and a decorative masonry façade on the bridge and parapet.  Additional finishing work included grading, base course, pavement, curb and gutter, erosion control, landscaping and electrical runs crossing the bridge.  Coordination of inspectors and subcontractors was maintained, and all incidental items were executed as necessary to complete the work as shown on the plans, proposal, and contract.

Features & Challenges:

  • The existing conditions of the work area were susceptible to flash floods during even minor rainfall.  The roadway had to be opened to traffic at all times, for this reason the construction was split into two phases.  The construction site also contained contaminated soil that had to be handled and disposed of per specifications.


All services were completed on time and within budget to the satisfaction of the Owner.  In addition, our team proposed and performed a cost reduction incentive that resulted in savings to the owner.
