Vista was responsible for clearing the site, design and construction of the new concrete bridge, backfilling and erosion control, as well as full coordination with Urban Ecology Center, Milwaukee County, City of Milwaukee, MMSD, community, stakeholders and all subcontractors.

Scope of Project:

Design and Construction (Design/Build!) of the new Park Place Bridge over Oak Leaf Trail, - two span (60’ + 17’) haunched cast-in-place concrete slab structure and stone masonry building underneath of the new bridge small span

Features & Challenges:

  • design challenges of difficult geotechnical conditions
  • tremendous amount of varies utilities and facilities directly under new bridge, including two MMSD tunnels 6’ and 9’(!) diameter
  • site accessibility
  • pedestrian and bicyclist protection
  • unique aesthetic features, including sidewalks bumpouts and slab section round shapes, mask wall with reveals matching existing stone
